Two years ago, border guards were among the first who stood in the enemy’s way and appointed the direction to russian warship, and to all invaders with it.

At dawn on February 24, 2022, the servicemen of the State Border Guard Service had no fear in fighting against the enraged enemy alongside other units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine. They have been continuing persistently carrying out their duties, defending the country against russian occupiers.

The SBGSU units participated above 1200 combat operations in two years of war. They were liberating the Snake Island, defending Mariupol, and participating in the de-occupating of Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions as well as the right bank of the Kherson region, and defending Bakhmut, Andriivka, Klishchiivka, and Maryinka…

For the heroically repelling of the hostile attacks during two years 2099 border guards were awarded by the state awards, 633 unfortunately posthumously.

Today, the SBGSU units continue to deter the aggressors in the contact line, fulfill engineering equipment of the frontiers with belarus and russia, and destroy the hostile aerial targets alongside the mobile fire groups.

From the beginning of the full-scale invasion border guards exposed and prevented the activity of almost 360 unlawful groups who had been transferring persons across the state border. As well as the SBGSU units are counteracting smuggling and illegal circulation of weapons and drugs.

At the same time, during these two years’ border guards provided safety and passed more than 70 million people across the state border and 16.2 million vehicles in the southern and western frontiers of the country.
